身近にあるものから新たな寓意的風景を作り上げ、未知なる崇高の世界への接触をテーマに展開しているシリーズ写真で ”distraught”とは、フランス語の "éperdu"という語の英訳で、 “ぞっとするような、振動した、取り乱した、心動かされた"という意味で、撮影される対象物の状態と同時に、そのイメージを認識する際の撮影者の心理状態をも示しているようです。

“distraught" is the English translation of the French word "éperdu", which means "horrified, vibrating, distraught, moved". It seems to indicate the state of the object being photographed and also the photographer's state of mind when perceiving the image as well.

2015年個展に合わせて来日してくれた際、このシリーズ作品がモノクロではなくカラー写真であること、撮影場所は野外でなく自宅のダイニングテーブル上であること、写真に映る丸い物体は日本のこけしを用いて撮影していることなどを説明してくれました。
